Adoption Policies

We rescue animals in need, sometimes they have suffered a very abusive life of neglect and lack of love. They come to us because we are their only voice. It is our responsibility to place them in homes where they will be given the things they deserve: love, attention, understanding, training, patience, medical care, proper nourishment & housing and companionship. Therefore, we screen each applicant very thoroughly and require a home visit.

Our adoption fees generally range from $75 to $800 based on how much rehabilitation the dog needs while waiting to be adopted to a good home. If these things are acceptable to you, please read on.

Adoption Policies
Our dogs are placed into family situations only within the United States and Canada. We do not place dogs for the purpose of guarding or fighting.

Minimum requirements for adopting from OREBA Rescue Network Group Inc are:

  • All applicants must be at least 18 years of age. With somebody older like 21 years.
  • Previous large breed ownership experience preferred
  • Participation in formal obedience training and socialization sometimes required
  • Demonstrated responsible dog ownership, and primary care giver of a dog (INCLUDING Spay/Neuter of current family pets)
  • Dog must live INSIDE as a member of the adopter's family
  • If you rent, we require a letter from your landlord giving you permission to keep this breed of dog on the premises and there are no insurance problems.

1. Please fill out the adoption application. We require that all dogs in your household are spayed or neutered before you will be considered for adoption without any exceptions. A vet reference is required. If you do not have a recent vet history, please provide a personal reference. If you do not own your home or live in an apartment, a letter of approval(on letterhead if possible) must be included with your application.

2. If your application and vet/personal references are approved, you will be contacted for a phone interview and to schedule a home inspection.

3. Adoption donations are based on age and are not negotiable. Form of payments accepted are cash or certified funds. The adoption fee is not a sale price, but a request to defer or reimburse OREBA RESCUE. for medical and care expenses incurred in the treatment of the dog and to enable OREBA RESCUE  to continue its rescue efforts.

4. We do not have a kennel. Our dogs are fostered in private homes throughout New York and South Carolina  .

5. We understand the excitement surrounding adding a new member to your family but please understand that we are a small volunteer-operated organization with limited time and resources. It may take weeks to months before you are contacted.

6. We need a copy of your state id card or past port id. 3 to 5 references with their address, phone numbers and full name. The name, phone number, and address of your veterinarian. We need this information from you before I can decide if you are a suitable home for one of our dogs.We just like to know where our babies are going. We also need your picture ID. Also a Picture of your APT or your House and family members in your house hold.

7. MOST IMPORTANTLY most of these dogs have been abused and/or neglected in their past lives. We make every effort to place them in a “perfect bullie” home for the rest of their lives…no matter how long it takes. **WE DO NOT CHARGE AN APPLICATION FEE. BUT WE NEED ALL DONATIONS  LIKE MONEY FOR FOOD, CAGES FOR OUR FOSTER HOMES, VET BILLS AND A LOT MORE.

If you do not meet these minimum requirements, please wait until your circumstances change before applying to adopt.

**Please note that some insurance companies may cancel your homeowner's insurance if you own an Molosser Bulldogs, Bulldogges, Bandogges, Bandogs and Mastiffs. It is the responsibility of the adopter to check with their agent prior to adopting one of these breeds to make sure doing so will not adversely affect their policy.

OREBA Rescue Network Group Inc. is under NO obligation to adopt an animal to any individual.

Unless otherwise noted, an adoption donation of $75 - $500. is expected when you receive your dog. The adoption fee is not a sale price, but a request to defer or reimburse OREBA Rescue Network Group Inc. for medical and care expenses incurred in the treatment of the dog and to enable OREBA Rescue Network Group Inc. to continue its rescue efforts. Dogs are temperament tested by our volunteers/foster homes and their health and temperament monitored prior to placement but we can make no guarantees. Animals in foster care and adopted out by American Bulldog Rescue are not warranted for health or behavior/temperament and not released until the dog's health permits. This includes spay or neuter surgery. Dog licenses are the responsibility of the adopting family.

Upon adoption, copies of all available records will be provided to the family. All animals are spayed or neutered prior to placement, and are current on vaccinations. An adoption contract is required when the animal is placed.

We prefer that our dogs go to homes with securely fenced yards. Whether you live in the city or in the country, no dog can be safely left to run free without your direct supervision and control. The price of such freedom is inevitably injury or death: from automobiles, from Animal Control, or from justifiably irate neighbors.. The unfenced country dog will sooner or later discover the neighbor's livestock and could cause harm to such. Many state laws allow a livestock owner to kill any dog chasing or worrying his stock, or running deer on his property. And livestock owners are quick to act on this right. The unfenced city dog may exercise his catching instinct on joggers, bicyclists, other animals and automobiles. An unfenced dog is always destined for disaster.

If your yard is not fenced, we will require the dog to be on lead at all times.

Puppies not yet housetrained will only be adopted to homes where they can be let out every two-three hours and have someone with them most of the time.

OREBA Rescue Network Group is under NO obligation to adopt an animal to any individual.

Please be advised that we are volunteers. We all have full-time jobs, families, and animals of our own. Many of us work more hours doing rescue work than we do at our full-time jobs. While we make every effort to process applications and return phone calls immediately, this may not always happen. Please, be patient with us. Emergency medical calls and calls about the safety of our animals take priority. Application processing time averages 2-4 weeks depending on the volume of applications received and the presence of puppies on the website.
